🏔️ General Information
Q: Where are you located/ Meeting place?
A: We are based in beautiful Bergen, Norway, known as the gateway to the fjords.
Most of our tours start in the city center I Bergen. Our meeting place before tours is usually by the tourist information at: Strandkaien 3. You are also welcome to stop by our office in Lille Øvregaten 2 if there is anything you are wondering about or need to rent some hiking gear!
Q: What types of tours do you offer?
A: We offer a range of outdoor adventures including fjord hikes, mountain hikes, rock climbing, mountain biking, multi day hiking, and experiences in combination with fjord cruises.
Q: What is included in a typical guided tour?
A: Our guided tours usually include a local and professional English-speaking guide, safety equipment if needed, sometimes a car ride if needed, and often snacks or light meals depending on the tour. More specific details are listed on each tour page.
Q: Can I book a private tour with customized itinerary?
A: Absolutely. We offer private tours and can tailor experiences for individuals, families, or groups. Just contact us with your preferences.
Q: Are your tours accessible for people with limited mobility?
A: Some of our private tours may be suitable depending on the terrain and your needs. Please contact us so we can recommend the best options.
Q: Are your tours available in languages other than English?
A: All of our tours are conducted in English only.
🥾 Hiking Tours
Q: What level of fitness is required for your hikes?
A: We offer hikes for all levels, from beginner-friendly walks to demanding full-day mountain treks. Each tour is labeled with a difficulty level to help you choose the right one. We try to adjust the pace and difficulty to every group, but differences can be quite big in public tours, but this is usually not a problem. In private tours your guide will tailor the hike to your wishes. You decide the pace, length and difficulty.
Q: What should I bring on a hike?
A: Participants must wear good shoes and suitable clothes—this is a minimum requirement. If the guide determines that your clothing is inadequate, you may be rejected from the tour without a refund. Also bring water, snacks, and sunglasses/ sunscreen if necessary.
Q: Are your hikes suitable for children?
A: Yes, we offer family-friendly hikes that are suitable for children over a certain age (usually 8+).
Please check the tour description or contact us for more details.
Q: What happens if I’m late?
A: If you are running late, please contact us immediately. In most cases, we cannot delay the tour for late arrivals, especially for public group tours.
Q: Can I bring my dog or pet on the tour?
A: Pets are generally not allowed on public tours. For private tours, we may be able to accommodate pets depending on the route—please contact us in advance.
🧾 Insurance & Liability
Q: Do I need travel insurance?
A: We strongly recommend that all participants have travel insurance that covers outdoor activities and cancellations. Participation in outdoor sports and activities can involve a certain level of risk for accident and injury. You participate in these activities at your own risk and responsibility. You must have your own travel and personal insurance. NMG does not include any type of insurance.
Follow guide instructions during the entire event. Stay with the group if not otherwise agreed.
Replace damaged and/or self-inflicted loss of equipment rented from NMG.

Q: How do I book a tour? And how can I come in contact with you/ a real person
A: You can book a tour by:

- Our customer support/ office is open from 9:00 AM until 16:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: All bookings are eligible for a full refund minus a 10% administration fee, if canceled at least 10 days (240 hours) before the scheduled departure.
Note: No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 10 days in advance.

🏨 Personal Hotel Pickup
Q: What does “Personal Pickup” mean?
A: Instead of meeting your guide outside the tourist information at Strandkaien 3, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel in Bergen.
Please make sure to enter your hotel name when booking so we know where to meet you.
Q: Is hotel pickup available from all hotels?
A: Hotel pickup is available from most centrally located hotels in Bergen. If you’re unsure, contact us before booking.
🥪 Wilderness Lunch
Q: What is included in the “Wilderness Lunch” add-on?
A: Your guide will bring you a typical Norwegian wilderness lunch, including a drink. It’s a great way to enjoy local flavors while out in nature.
Q: What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?
A: Please inform us at the time of booking if you have any allergies or special dietary needs, and we will do our best to accommodate you. There will be a own text box for this
🚠 Fløibanen Funicular Tickets
Q: Is the Fløibanen ticket included in the tour price?
A: Usually not. It is available as an optional add-on on some of our tours for convenience.
Q: What is the Fløibanen add-on?
A: If your tour includes the Fløibanen Funicular, we can purchase your ticket(s) in advance for a small additional fee. This saves you time and hassle. This add-on is only available for private tours.
Q: Can I buy the Fløibanen ticket myself?
A: Yes, you are welcome to buy your own ticket. However, we recommend the add-on because:
- The physical ticket queues can be very long in the summer (June–August)
- Many guests prefer not to download the app, register, and add payment info for just one ride
🧼 Sustainability & Responsibility
Q: How do you ensure your tours are environmentally friendly?
A: We follow Leave No Trace principles, limit group sizes, and work to minimize our environmental impact. We also support local conservation efforts.
We also focus on:
- Risk analysis for all our activities
- Accidental preparation.
- The guide always has first aid equipment.
- Notification routines
- Deviating routines
- NMG collaborates with a doctor from Haukeland University Hospital if we need medical advice.
- Ethical guidelines for the guides.
- Having qualified guides
🌦️ Weather & Safety
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: Safety is our top priority. We reserve the right to cancel a customer’s booking for a full refund in case of conditions that may affect our guest’s safety.
🧗 Climbing & Biking
Q: Do I need experience to join a rock climbing tour?
A: Not at all! We offer both beginner and advanced climbing tours. All necessary instruction and safety equipment is provided.
Q: Can I rent a bike from you?
A: No, we do not offer mountain bike rentals for self-guided tours. However, if you book a mountain biking tour, the bike rental (and helmet) is included in the price.
